PC - Race - 2 Players Co-op

Slide Bros was made during an assignment at Enjmin.

We had 1 week to make a racing game for 2 players.

And since we like to make things complicated, we decided to make it a cooperation race !

3Cs & Level Design

In duo with Tristan, the gameplay programmer, we worked on the controller : max speed, acceleration, balance between the 2 players, gravity, cinetic. And on the camera behaviour : distance, collisions.

Then, Taslim, the tech artist, built a tool to automatically generate terrain, which I used to make the track. On top of it, I dispatched trees, rocks and snowmen to balance the progression of difficulty in the level.

P.S : The snowmen have names. Bob is the one that gets hitten the most. Michel is his best friend.

The current best time is 1:29:956 by Charlotte & Charlotte.

Improvement axis

There initially was supposed to be an entire self generated environment around the track, but because I prefered to focus on gamefeel rather than great visuals, I inclined the track against Taslim's advice, which made it impossible for him to integrate it.

There is also a small obstacle in the middle of the race that can block the players if they don't calculate their trajectory properly. This can take some time to go around if you get blocked.
And one of the curves can induce a looping that may bring a bit of motion sickness.
